Yoga Mudra

பத்மாசனத்தில் மட்டும் உட்காரலாம். https://www.facebook.com/mediclaimagent/ For Insurance related services, Call 98401 77017 Devarajan #starhealth #insurance #mediclaim #healthinsurance

OsteoPorasis

மருத்துவக் காப்பீடுத் திட்டம் எடுத்து வைத்துக் கொள்வது நல்லது. call 98401 77017 Devarajan for more details #StarHealth #Medicalimagent #மருத்துவக்காப்பீடு

Changes in INcome tax rules

10 CHANGES IN INCOME TAX RULES THIS YEAR From long-term capital gains tax on equity investments to higher interest income exemption for senior citizens to introduction of dividend distribution tax on dividend received from equity mutual funds, this year saw many changes in income tax rules. Many of these were introduced as part of Budget 2018-19. This year also saw the introduction of standard deduction for salaried employees. Senior citizens were also allowed higher deduction on health insurance premiums. Here are some of the important changes in income tax rules: 1) Higher interest income exemption for senior citizens For senior citizens, the government increased interest income exemption limit on bank and post office deposits to Rs 50,000, from Rs 10,000 earlier. In addition, for senior citizens, tax deduction at source (TDS) will not be triggered if interest income is up to Rs 50,000. 2) Dividend distribution tax on dividends from equity mutual funds Dividends distributed by equity mutual funds, which were earlier tax-free, attracted tax at the rate of 10%. Remember that dividends from equity mutual funds are tax-free in the hands of investors. But dividends from equity mutual funds are paid after deducting a dividend distribution tax (DDT) of 11.648% (including cess), which reduces the in-hand return for investors. 3) Long-term capital gains tax on equities From 1 April 2018, a new long-term capital gains (LTCG) tax regime on equity instruments - listed shares or equity-oriented mutual funds - came into effect. Earlier such gains on equity were exempt from tax. Now investors have to pay 10% tax on gains exceeding Rs 1 lakh a year. Equity holding beyond a year is considered long term. However, to soften the blow, the government introduced a grandfathering provision, which means that if listed shares or equity funds were acquired before February 1, there would be no levy of long-term capital gains tax. 4) Rs. 40,000 standard deduction Standard deduction was introduced in this year’s budget in lieu of the earlier exemption in respect of transport allowance and reimbursement of miscellaneous medical expenses. Unlike other deductions and exemptions, to claim standard deduction, one need not provide any documents and proof. A salaried individual or pensioner can claim standard deduction up to Rs 40,000 from his/her income. 5) Higher cess The government raised the cess on income tax to 4% from 3% for individual taxpayers on the amount of income tax payable. 6) Tax exemption on NPS for the self-employed Employees contributing to the National Pension System (NPS) were allowed to withdraw up to 40% of the total corpus without any tax at the time of maturity or closure of the account. The same benefit has now been extended to self-employed subscribers. 7) Lock-in period of 54EC bonds increased Long-term profits from real estate sales are tax-free if invested in specified bonds under Section 54EC. Till last year, you had to stay invested in the 54EC bonds for at least three years to enjoy the tax break, but from this year, your money will be locked in for five years. 8) Higher deduction on health insurance premiums Senior citizens now can avail deduction of up to Rs 50,000 for health insurance premium under Section 80D. Earlier the limit was Rs 30,000. Also, the deduction available for payment towards medical treatment of specified disease has been hiked to Rs 1 lakh for senior citizens. 9) Govt brings NPS on a par with PF, makes it tax-free The Union Cabinet recently approved many changes in the NPS to make it more attractive for investors. NPS will be made fully tax-free on withdrawal. Subscribers will get full tax exemption on the 60% of the corpus that an investor is allowed to withdraw on maturity. This will help bring the NPS on a par with other tax-saving instruments like the PPF where withdrawals are fully tax-free. This is likely to be effective from April 1 next year. (Read: NPS rule changes explained in 10 points) 10) More tax benefits on single premium health insurance policies In cases where premium for health insurance for multiple years has been paid in one year, the deduction shall be allowed on proportionate basis for the number for years for which the benefit of health insurance is provided. When all are shifting towards Financial assets, Are U?

HNIS AND ULTRA HNIS ARE SHIFTING TO FINANCIAL ASSETS. SHOULD YOU? As much as 40%-50% of wealth in Indian business families continues to be invested in own businesses, a trend that is unlikely to change, but there is a change in allocation with the rich preferring financial assets over physical assets, according to two recent first-of-their-kind wealth reports on high net worth and ultra high net worth individuals (HNIs and UHNIs). While one report, The Family Wealth Report 2018, by Edelweiss Wealth Management and Campden Research, focused on ultra-rich, family business owners, the other one, IIFL Wealth Index 2018, by IIFL Wealth Management in partnership with Wealth X, focused on the growth of HNIs and UHNIs in India along with their investment patterns. Their sample sets were different but they had a few common outcomes. Both reports found the rich are increasingly leaning away from physical assets towards financial assets. Also, both said one of the big concerns for the ultra rich is having a good succession plan. The reports surveyed the rich, but money management has similar threads no matter what your financial status. We spoke to financial planners to ascertain whether it is worthwhile for retail investors too to have lower dependence on physical assets and focus on succession planning. Retirement Planning

DON’T LET THESE FOUR MISTAKES DERAIL YOUR RETIREMENT PLANS Retirement is a long-term goal. Our behaviours often get moulded by what happened yesterday and what will occur tomorrow. So, when the target is years away, there is a chance of missing out on important things. Therefore, investors need to be very careful while planning for retirement. Small mistakes of today can get amplified over the years and become an error of epic proportions. The sad part of long-term goals is that when you realise that there is a miscalculation, it is too late to correct the course. So, it pays to be on guard. Here are some mistakes that you should avoid. Failing to consider inflation Do you know what will be the value of today’s `1 crore 30 years later? It will be `23 lakh if you consider inflation at 5%. So, in three decades a neat sum of today can become less than one-fourth of its value. While planning for retirement, many commit the cardinal mistake of avoiding inflation. If you forget inflation, you are setting up yourself for a poor standard of living when you are old. So, investments for retirement, which is typically 25-30 years away, need to be made with an adequate calculation about inflation. Assume inflation around 6-7% and then compute what your retirement corpus needs to be. Read more at www.starhealthdevarajan.com/news/690 For Insurance related services Call 98401 77017 Devarajan

Premium Receipt should be informed by sms by the Insurers

IRDAI ASKS INSURERS TO INFORM POLICYHOLDERS VIA SMSES ON RECEIPT OF PREMIUM FROM JAN Insurance sector regulator IRDAI has asked all the insurers to inform policyholders through messages on receipt of premium from January 1, aimed at protecting the interest of consumers. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) said the order is being issued to enhance the policyholder protection and information. Wherever the mobile phone number of the policyholder is available in policy records with the insurer, the receipt of premium by the insurer under a policy shall be immediately informed to the concerned policyholder on his mobile phone number by an automatic SMS generated by the system, it said in the order. Also, in case of new contracts, it may be ensured that the correct mobile phone number is captured to ensure SMS is sent on receipt of premium by the insurer. "All Insurers shall put in place systems and procedures to ensure the above intimation to policyholders. The above guidelines shall be effective from 1st January 2019," IRDAI said. www.starhealthdevarajan.com

Senior citizen TDS Clarification

NO TDS ON INTEREST INCOME UP TO RS 50,000 IN CASE OF SENIOR CITIZENS, CLARIFIES CBDT Are you a senior citizen and your bank is still deducting TDS on your interest income which is less than Rs 50,000 in a financial year? Here’s good news for you. The Central Board of Direct Taxes has clarified that in the case of senior citizens, no TDS (tax deducted at source) is required to be ‘deducted at source’ u/s 194A of the Income Tax Act, where the amount of such income during a financial year doesn’t exceed Rs 50,000 in aggregate. In a circular, CBDT has said that it has been brought to its notice that in case of senior citizens, some TDS deductors and banks are deducting TDS despite the amount of income not exceeding Rs 50,000. “The same is not in accordance with the law as the Income-Tax Act provides that no tax deduction at source under section 194A shall be made in the case of Senior Citizens where the amount of such income or, the aggregate of the amounts of such income credited or paid during the financial year does not exceed Rs 50,000,” it said. CBDT further said that under sub-rule (5) of Rule 31A of the I-T Rules, 1962, the Director General of Income-tax (Systems) is authorized to specify the procedures, formats and standards for the purposes of furnishing and verification of the statements or claim for refund in Form 26B and shall be responsible for the day-to-day administration in relation to furnishing and verification of the statements or claim for refund in Form 26B in the manner so specified Read more at www.starhealthdevarajan.com/nes/679 www.starhealthdevarajan.com For Insurance related services call 98401 77017 Devarajan

Pan card rules

3 NEW PAN RULES TO BE EFFECTIVE FROM TODAY; HERE’S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW Permanent Account Number (PAN) is the tax identification number mandatory for filing income tax returns (ITR) and can be applied either online or offline. Quoting of PAN is also mandatory for transactions such as opening of a bank account, depositing cash exceeding Rs 50,000 into a bank account, opening a demat account, investment in shares/ mutual funds, and immovable property transactions. Application for PAN is to be made in Form 49A for Indian nationals and Form 49AA for foreign nationals. The recent decision of the Honourable Supreme Court also confirms that Aadhaar is mandatory for filing of ITR and allotment of PAN. Form 49A, therefore, requires one to furnish the Aadhaar number/ Enrolment ID of an Aadhaar application. It is essential for one to link their Aadhaar with PAN as this facilitates e-verification of the tax return filed through a simple online process. Foreign nationals, non-resident individuals as per the Indian tax laws, super senior citizens, individuals residing in the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Assam and Meghalaya are not required to quote Aadhaar in the PAN application form and the tax return. Some amendments to PAN application forms have been announced recently and shall be effective from 5 December 2018. To Protect Ur Wealth take Health Insurance

TAKING A HEALTH INSURANCE COVER CAN PROTECT YOUR WEALTH Adversities hit you without a warning. Especially if they are to do with a catastrophic illness. Most people have that one family member who has been diagnosed with a dreaded illness and finds it challenging to manage financially. It is surprising then to hear that almost 44% (according to a report by Vidal Healthcare Services Pvt. Ltd) of India’s population is not covered by health insurance. Further the average insurance cover of ₹2 lakh is grossly inadequate to cover the expenses for any large illness. In such situations, people dip into their savings or take loans or sell assets to fund treatments. As per a report by EY, 70% of healthcare spending in 2016 was out of pocket and only 2% was through private insurance, the balance 28% being borne by the government. With three-quarters of tertiary healthcare being provided by corporate hospitals, it becomes important to have a high health cover, given the high charges by these hospitals and medical inflation of 20% per annum in India. While a surgery costs ₹1.5-3 lakh, the cost of staying in ICU is ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh per day. A catastrophic illness (like a transplant) which requires long-term hospital stay, would set you back by ₹15-20 lakh in a month. Common treatments like dialysis cost ₹50,000 a month. Before investing in a family insurance plan, you may have to think carefully and take the step ahead because if you don’t do that, you might end up opting for some other plan that is not a part of your requirement list. We go through a number of websites before buying a new laptop or TV, so why don't we really take some time out to re-evaluate health insurance plans. The question is "Do we actually need such timely re-evaluation? Health Insurance sub limits

WHAT ARE SUB-LIMITS IN A HEALTH INSURANCE POLICY? HERE’S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW In the last few years, having a health insurance policy has become a must owing to the increasing lifestyle-related ailments and constant rise in healthcare costs. When buying an adequate health insurance, there are numerous factors that must be kept in mind to get the best coverage possible. It is recommended to properly know and understand the jargons of insurance like sub-limits, critical illness and pre-existing diseases related to health insurance. Amongst all these essential features, sub-limit tends to be the most under-rated feature even though it is one of the most crucial elements in a health insurance policy. WHAT IS A SUB-LIMIT? A sub-limit clause in a health insurance policy is a cap that the insurer puts for the policyholder on expenses against a specified medical procedure. It is usually a predetermined limit by the insurer on the total claim amount for some specific diseases or medical treatments. Insurers mostly place sub-limits on doctors’ consultation fee, hospital room rent, ambulance charges and some pre-planned medical procedures such as plastic surgery, cataract operation, knee ligament reconstruction and a few more. Health Insurance

HEALTH INSURANCE: 5 AMAZING BENEFITS, OTHER THAN HOSPITALISATION EXPENSES Buying a health insurance policy is one of the wiser ways to safeguard yourselves from the unexpected health hazards as against simply putting aside a fixed corpus. Any insurance policy be it a health, life or term, if seen from the perspective of investment do have their respective pros and cons. For those, who understands health insurance is only to cover the basic medical expenses, there are few amazing benefits associated with it, other than the hospitalisation expenses. Domiciliary Hospitalisation Health insurance policy covers the expenses incurred during hospitalisation but, what if a patient is not able to reach hospital or there is not a spare room in the hospital at the time of need. In such emergent and unexpected situations, a patient can avail the treatment at home, following the approval from the doctor. This kind of treatment is called as domiciliary hospitalisation and it may vary from amid different policy providers as some insurers provide it some don’t. Organ donor related expenses If there is a casualty whom the doctor has recommended a organ transplant such as kidney, liver, etc. The expenses with regard to organ donor may cost a hefty amount to the patient. Health Policies

DISEASES AFTER HEALTH POLICY PURCHASE SHOULD BE COVERED: IRDAI PANEL Chronic diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, AIDs/HIV infection and Morbid obesity should be covered under medical cover if a person contracts such ailments after buying a health insurance policy, according to recommendations of a panel set up by Irdai. The working group has also suggested a list of 17 diseases, including chronic kidney disease, Hepatitis B, Alzheimer's, epilepsy and HIV & AIDS, which could be excluded from health insurance polices. Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) had set up a working group for standardisation of exclusions in health insurance contracts in July this year. The panel has submitted its report containing host of recommendations to the regulator. "The Working Group recommends that all health conditions acquired after policy inception, other than those that are not covered under the policy contract (such as Infertility and Maternity) should be covered under the policy and cannot be permanently excluded. "Thus, exclusion of diseases contracted after taking the health insurance policy such as for Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, AIDs/HIV infection, Morbid obesity, etc, cannot be permitted," said the report placed on the Irdai's website. It has initially recommended a "list of 17 conditions" for which insurers can incorporate permanent exclusions if they are pre-existing at the time of underwriting. Diwali gift or Bonus. Taxable?

RECEIVED A DIWALI GIFT OR BONUS FROM OFFICE? FIND OUT IF IT IS TAXABLE Although the Gift Tax Act was abolished in 1998, all gifts you receive during Diwali or any other festival may not be tax exempt. Not only do you have to declare all gifts while filing your income tax return (ITR), you may also have to shell out income tax on gifts according to your tax slab. It is important to understand which gifts are taxed and which are not. Besides, there are separate income tax rules governing Diwali gifts or bonus received from your employer, says tax expert Homi Mistry, partner, Deloitte India. Diwali gift or Diwali bonus from employer: If you receive any gift voucher or token worth more than Rs 5,000 from your employer on any ceremonial occasion like Diwali or New Year, then it is treated as part of your salary and taxed according to your tax slab. The tax exemption is limited to gift vouchers or tokens totalling less than Rs 5,000 in any given financial year. Therefore, if you receive two vouchers totalling more than Rs 5,000 during a financial year then you will be taxed. There is no tax exemption on cash given as a gift by an employer. Mistry points out that even if you get Rs 2,000 cash from your employer, it is taxable as income from salary. Riders in LIC Policies

HOW RIDERS ADD VALUE TO YOUR LIFE INSURANCE PLAN The basic objective of buying life insurance is to provide maximum financial security to the dependants in case of untimely death of the policyholder. In almost all the cases the basic sum assured and accrued bonus till the time of death determines the final payout to the nominee. However, there are provisions for providing different benefits in different circumstances, which the policyholder may not even foresee at the time of signing a proposal for taking a life insurance policy. It is a common practice worldwide for life insurers to provide add-on benefits under the same policy on payment of a small additional premium. For example, almost every company offers double accident benefit. This benefit can be secured by payment of additional premium as low as rupee one per thousand sum assured. Rider benefits Under this rider benefit, in case of death by accident a sum equal to the basic sum assured is paid to the nominee over and above the sum assured under the policy. The additional sum under this rider is meant to provide additional funds to help the family. The worst would be that the policyholder, the victim of the accident, is permanently incapacitated and is unable to earn any longer. Changes in LIC Policies

5 NEW CHANGES IN LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU On October 26, 2018, IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) has proposed significant changes in life insurance policies aiming to give a better understanding of the product, the regulator has set considerable benefits for its policyholders. Have a look at these five important changes proposed by IRDAI and understand what it actually means for you: =|1|= Minimum death benefit has been made 7 times for regular premium products and 1.25 times for single premium products for all ages. Current status: The current status for less than 45 years of age is 10 times and for greater than 45 years, it is 7 times to be eligible under section 80C of income tax act to avail tax benefits. Impact on policyholders: This is an insurance product and hence there is death benefit in-built in this. Santosh Agarwal, Associate Director and Cluster Head- Life Insurance, Policybazaar.com told Moneycontrol that making this lower will only benefit the policyholder because the amount of investment that you make, most of it would be going towards investment in the market and not towards the mortality charges. Whether it is 7 times or 10 times, it is not enough as the cost of life can never be measured. “It is best that most of the money that you invest should be invested in the market and help in corpus building rather than getting it deducted for the mortality charges,” she said. Guide for Policy holders

Guide for policyholders Involve the family: Involve your spouse and other family members in financial decisions. At least make them aware of all your investments and policies. As of now, there are few who involve their spouse in the financial planning process, according to experts. “Some of our clients involve their wives at least on a half-yearly basis in update meetings with us so that they know the basic plan for the family,” said Varun Girilal, co-founder and executive director, Mitraz Investment Advisors. Organise documents: Ideally, you should make a file of all your investments and insurance policies and share it with your spouse. “A good practice is to share inventory or a dossier in one place with all relevant details such as contact number, amounts etc. with the spouse who is not actively involved in the finances,” said Girilal. Put in place a plan: There’s nothing better if you can chart out a plan, that your dependants can rely on after your death. But to do that, you need to have the right amount of sum assured. “A plan or asset allocation that can be followed, and a professional or family adviser to consult with should be suggested,” added Girilal. Measure Ur financial Health

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR FINANCIAL HEALTH? CHECK THESE SIX METRICS Your financial health is extremely important as it determines how well you will be able to achieve your goals and ambitions, and in turn improve your quality of life. You can determine whether you’re doing well, or need to pull up your socks by checking your progress with regards to certain metrics. Take a look at what these metrics are. Setting a budget This is a basic practice that you must follow, regardless of whether you are just starting your career or have been working for a while. In essence, it is simply a check you put in place to be sure that you are using your money judiciously, and not spending more than you can afford to. Consider it as the first step to good health, and if you aren’t doing this already, set a budget immediately! You can make it as detailed as you wish to. Setting financial goals Another important way in which you can assess your life basis your finances is by examining whether or not you have defined financial goals. Income Tax returns

NOT FILING YOUR INCOME TAX RETURNS ON TIME? YOU COULD BE PROSECUTED Not filing your income tax returns can lead to prosecution, even if you are entitled to a refund. In a recent decision, the Delhi High Court (HC) held the prosecution proceeding stands committed upon non-filing of income tax return within the prescribed due date under section 139 (1) of the Income-Tax Act. An individual taxpayer had failed to file his income tax return for the Assessment Year (AY) 2003-04 to 2005-06 within the time stipulated under section 139 (1) of the Act. In addition, he failed to abide by the notices issued under Section 142 (1) (requiring a taxpayer to furnish tax return and certain other information) for non-filing of returns. The assessing officer initiated the prosecution proceedings against the taxpayer as punishable under Section 276CC. After the lower court ruled against the taxpayer, he went to the high court. The taxpayer said in relation to AY 2004-05 and AY 2005-06, there was no tax due. Instead, he said he paid more tax than he was supposed to and would have got a refund. Health Insurance

HERE'S HOW YOU CAN AVOID AN INSURANCE CLAIM REJECTION Insurance is basically a contract between the insurer and policyholder based on principles of good faith. If the policyholder fails to exercise complete honesty and accuracy while providing the information to the insurer, the insurer might reject the claim stating it as the reason for its rejection. You need to be aware of the following reasons for rejection before you file claim papers. Below listed are some of the common reasons for claim rejection: Non-disclosure or incorrect disclosure of the facts Giving inappropriate or wrong information about policyholder is one of the most common reasons for claim rejection. If there is any wrong information or discrepancy in the information provided to the insurer, then the insurer has the full authority to reject the claim raised under the policy by the policyholder. As a responsible buyer, it is obligatory for the policyholder to give the right information required by the insurer. There can be a possibility that the insurer may add the wrong detail by mistake, so it is advisable to check the policy documents precisely as soon as you receive it and inform the insurer in case of any mismatch Read more at http://starhealthdevarajan.com/news/625 for Insurance Related Services, U can always call 98401 77017 Devarajan https://www.facebook.com/myfamilyagent www.licdevarajan.com

Motor Insurance

10 FACTORS WHICH CAN AFFECT YOUR MOTOR INSURANCE CLAIM Buying a motor vehicle is one of the most essential parts of owning a car. It gives you a sense of safety while driving your vehicle. However, if your vehicle gets involved in a mishap, it can drain you emotionally and financially. In India, it is compulsory to have third party car insurance but normally, people buy a comprehensive insurance policy because damage to one’s own vehicle can also be a very expensive proposition and it is simply a practical thing to do while getting your vehicle insured every year. Most of us think that you can easily get claim if your vehicle is insured. However, in reality, it is not as simple how it looks like. As per IRDAI's new circulation on increased Personal Accident cover with respect to claims, insurance companies will confirm whether there was any fault from the owner-driver in relation to the accident. Therefore, it is important for the owner-driver to be careful while going out for a drive. Here are ten reasons why your insurance claims can get rejected: == Ideally, the insured should inform the insurance company within 48 hours to 72 hours after your car meets an accident. Failing this, your claim may be rejected. == The insurance claim will get rejected if you use your private vehicle as a commercial vehicle. Fiancnical Planning

4 FINANCIAL LIFE STAGES AND HOW TO PLAN FOR THEM If the laundry list of “things to do” puts you off financial planning, then here is a way to make it easier. The elements that form part of the financial planning exercise include budgeting to generate savings, investing for goals, securing , protecting income through life and general insurance, managing debt and planning for the transfer of wealth. While each element plays an important part in securing your finances, not all of them are equally significant at every stage in the life-cycle. Categorise the activities as critical, important, urgent and optional in each phase of your life. Focus your resources on those activities that are identified as critical and important that need immediate attention. Consider activities that are labelled as urgent only if they are also seen as essential. For example, while you may consider holding off increasing contribution to the retirement corpus in favour of paying life insurance premium, you should not consider doing it to fund a holiday even if it is urgent. We tell you the four critical stages in a life cycle and how different financial planning approaches and tools can fit into each to make it a smooth ride for you. Proper age to Buy Life insurane

IS THERE A RIGHT AGE TO BUY LIFE INSURANCE? No one who comes of age and lands a job can escape the inevitable – that is an insurance sales agent who comes knocking. Looking back, I am ashamed to admit that many of my not-so-proud moments came from evading unplanned encounters with relatives and acquaintances who decided to try their hand at selling life insurance. What can I say? I was young, not savvy with small talk, have yet to learn to say no, and truthfully, my income could barely cover the bills. Now I’d like to think I know better and even go out of my way to set planned meetings with insurance specialists to protect my daughters’ financial future. If I knew then what I know now, I would have managed those “ambush” meetings better, and might have come away with sound investments too. Know about Life Insurance

5 KEY QUESTIONS TO ASK ABOUT YOUR LIFE INSURANCE You may have purchased life insurance years ago and never looked back. “Life is dynamic,” he says. “Some of the reasons people have life insurance is to replace income or to fund goals that you expect to fund if you are living and working. But when you die, that income goes away and so does the money to fund some of those goals.” five questions every person should ask about their life insurance coverage: Do I have the right type of coverage? There are two types of life insurance: term and permanent. Ramassini says with term insurance, there is an even exchange. You pay a premium and if you die within a certain period of time, a death benefit will be paid out. He notes that once this type of insurance expires, it gets more expensive as you get older. Permanent life insurance typically provides both a death benefit and a cash value. Part of the premium will go to the cash account, while another part will go to a death benefit. The cash value can be invested in different ways. But unlike term life insurance, permanent insurance does not expire as long as you keep paying the premiums. Ramassini says you should take into account your health when deciding which plan is right for you. Here are some of the common mistakes that people make while purchasing health insurance and some suggestions to avoid them which will make for a happy claim experience. Underinsuring yourself The most common health insurance mistake is skimping on the coverage amount. You tend to lower your premium costs because of which the coverage gets limited. Would the low coverage be sufficient in meeting your medical expenses? The remedy – medical expenses have become unaffordable to the common man. Since health plans are designed to protect you against such medical costs, invest in an optimal sum insured. Take into consideration the number of members to be covered under your plan and the current medical expenses when selecting the sum insured.
